The LegalTech Fund (TLTF) convened a group of forward-thinking industry leaders to explore how the legal system may evolve by 2040 using the Three Horizons framework. This phase of the Pathways project focuses on consumers and small & medium-sizes businesses, historically the most underserved segment of the legal market.
This report is a strategic guide to how legal services for consumers and SMBs are being reimagined through AI, intuitive triage, and virtual access. It maps key shifts from systemic exclusion to meaningful, everyday access, from static prose to dynamic, data-driven contracts, and from dispute resolution to dispute prevention.
Developed with industry leaders, Leaders’ Quest, and ALM, Pathways is a project designed to help the legal industry think clearly about where it’s headed over the next 15 years and what it will take to lead that change. This consumers and SMB edition highlights how new technologies and models can unlock a trillion dollars in unmet demand while realigning the system with its foundational purpose: justice that is easier to reach and easier to use.
